The Morcha that has been agitating, for what it calls broader rights to Madhesis including redrawing of provincial boundaries, has recently announced additional protest programmes citing that government turned deaf ear to their demands. As a part of this protest programmes, the Morcha

carried out torch rally at Rajbiraj, Bhardaha, Rupani, among other places, in the district. The Madhesi leaders have been taking exception to the constitution amendment proposal tabled by the government in Parliament to address the demands of agitating Madhesis, saying that it would not resolve the issues raised by Madhesi populace.SLMM has been reiterating that the constitution amendment proposal should be first discussed with it and only the revised amendment bill should be tabled at the Parliament for discussion.
